On 3 August 2018, we married at Ghent City Hall, partly with the aim of obtaining a residence permit for Anyuta. When we explored the conditions for a legal marriage, one requirement stood out: the creation of a “sustainable community life.” This question—what such a community actually means—has been central to our work and lives ever since.

After our marriage, we began to document the process in detail, from the proposal to the idea of a honeymoon.

A Number of Contradictions, Ignorances and Oddities revisits this shared trajectory. The performance traces key moments around our marriage, its conditions, and its possible futures. It offers a glimpse into our daily life and artistic practice, which are closely intertwined and function as an ongoing interpretation of what a “sustainable community life” might mean in practice.
